Public Health Information
If you think that you have been exposed to the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) or are experiencing symptoms, please contact your primary care provider or local public health office or call 8-1-1.
Facing challenges such as coronavirus (COVID-19) is not new to Indigenous communities. We have responded to many different emergencies for many years. However, this will take all of us working together to keep us strong, safe and healthy.
This page offers information for Indigenous early learning and child care (IELCC) programs and Indigenous families and communities about keeping safe, available funding, and other types of COVID-19 resources.
Pandemic response requires extensive collaboration among partners. This may include Chief and Council, a designated local pandemic authority organizations that serve children and families, and public health partners such as the Public Health Officer and/or Chief Medical Officer of the First Nations Health Authority. The resources offered on this site are suggestions to further support what is already in place.
Indigenous Early Learning and Child Care (IELCC) program educators and support staff are resilient and valuable community assets, as well as essential workers. Under safe conditions and with leadership support, they are uniquely positioned to collaborate with leadership, health partners, and community stakeholders in child and family services and education to ensure pandemic preparedness and response plans prioritize the safety, health, and well-being of young children, their families, and especially our Elders. IELCC programs, educators and staff are vital to community well-being and are uniquely positioned to support COVID-19 response plans.
BCACCS continues to create resources and will share them on this page as they become available. If you are looking for particular information and cannot find it, please let us know by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
We know this is a stressful time. Let us know how we can support you.
