BCACCS Resource Centre Highlight

Resource Highlight

Oral stories about Salmon that have been past down through generations hold great significance and have shaped the traditions and lifestyles of First Nations people. For Coastal First Nations people, salmon has been and still is a crucial resource that connects to their cultural identity.
During the summer months, salmon continues to be caught, harvested and preserved to ensure that there is food for the winter.
The BCACCS Resource Centre houses nine cultural curriculum kits, one of them being the Salmon kit. If you are interested in bringing the kit to your program, please contact [email protected]. The salmon kit contains various books, manipulatives, and hand-made toys that connect children to the land.
