Summer traditionally has been and still is an important season for harvesting and gathering food which in turn plays an important part in teaching and learning about the land and traditional foods. The BCACCS Resource Centre has books to explore the season. Check out Let’s go! A harvest story by Hannah Lindoff; Illustrated by Michaela Goade. Readers learn about Southeast Alaska Native subsistence activities by going through a journey through the seasons. Native traditions and cultural values are explored throughout the book. Harvesting methods, such as gathering and processing cedar, crab and salmon fishing, and smoking and pickling salmon are highlighted.
