Aboriginal Child Care Resource and Referral Program

The BC Aboriginal Child Care Society (BCACCS) operates the only Aboriginal Child Care Resource and Referral (ACCRR) program in BC.

Early childhood educators and providers are supported through the ACCRR program by providing information, outreach, a resource lending library, networking, and learning opportunities.

The ACCRR program makes it easier for Indigenous families to find and access quality licensed and registered child care by providing information, support, resources, and referral services to families and child care providers across the province.

Our goal is to increase the availability and accessibility of quality child care resources and services that support the self-determined needs of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis children and families and are adaptable, inclusive, and culturally responsive.

Early Childhood Educators

ACCRR staff provide support services and consultations to Indigenous child care providers to foster quality care through services such as: workshops and training, networking opportunities, supportive program outreach, access to a lending library, referrals to community resources, and consultation.
Other services provided through our ACCRR program include:

  • Resources, curriculum, and program development
  • Aboriginal ECE/ECD practicum and job postings
  • Information about funding and Indigenous ELCC policies

Families
The ACCRR program helps connect Indigenous families with the early years and child care services they need, such as: referrals to child care providers, workshops, drop-in programs, support, and parenting information. Our ACCRR program staff work in partnership with Indigenous families and communities on and off reserve and in urban settings throughout the province.

Should you have any questions, would like further information about professional development opportunities, or require a consultation, please contact the ACCRR by email [email protected] or phone 250-917-8639.
