Library & Resources
In 1997 ACCS established a resource centre in
our North Vancouver office. This centre provides culturally
appropriate curriculum materials to dovetail and support
Aboriginal early child development programs. We have collected
and catalogued over one thousand books, periodicals and videos related to Aboriginal
children, parenting, child care and early child development.
Our collection includes children’s
stories and activity books, texts related to child development
and books for planning early childhood program curriculum.
Borrower Guidelines
ACCS lends resource materials to ACCS members and Aboriginal
childcare professionals working in childcare centers throughout
BC. The lending service is one of ACCS many membership benefits
and is available free of charge to all ACCS members. Resources
can be identified through the online catalogue and requested
through the same online system, by mail, email, phone and in
person. Others, including ECE students, may also use the
resource center in person or by special arrangement with
resource center staff.

Registration:
All borrowers must fill out and sign a registration
form to obtain resource center borrowing privileges. Each borrower
will be responsible for paying late fees of a dollar a day and
replacement costs for lost or damaged materials. Borrowers with
outstanding fees will lose resource center privileges until
all fines and/or overdue material is returned.

and practitioners. If you have any ideas or suggestions on what
titles, references or resources we should include in the resource
center, let us know.
