Aboriginal Child Care Resource and Referral (CCRR)

Services Funded by the BC Ministry of Children and Family Development

Child Care Resource & Referral (CCRR) programs support early childhood educators and families throughout BC by providing information, outreach, resource lending libraries, networking and learning opportunities. The BC Aboriginal Child Care Society operates the only provincial CCRR program in BC – Our Aboriginal Child Care Resource and Support Services.

Our CCRR program staff work in partnership with Aboriginal families and communities on reserve and in urban settings throughout British Columbia.

Our goal is to increase the availability and accessibility of high quality child care resources and services that support the needs of First Nations, Inuit and Métis children and families. We strive to be adaptable, responsive, inclusive and culturally relevant. Services provided through our CCRR program include:

Information Services

  • Child Care Information & Consultation
  • Curriculum Development
  • Licensing Issues
  • Program Evaluation

Annual Provincial Training Conference

Every year BCACCS hosts an annual conference which provides valuable professional development and networking opportunities. This is a unique opportunity to offer culturally appropriate training to Aboriginal early childhood education and development (ECE/ECD) professionals. A primary focus of our professional development is to translate our Nations’ culturally rich traditions into high quality programs and services. Our conference is well-attended by front-line staff, program managers and related professionals working with Aboriginal children and families. Participants engaged in workshops receive certificates for continuing education credits.

BCACCS Resource Centre Services

The BCACCS Resource Centre currently holds over 1,400 print, multimedia, and digital resources concerning Aboriginal Early Childhood Development and Care. Our AECDC knowledge portal and online catalogue is available online.

  • We also have ECE Curriculum Boxes featuring hands-on play materials and teacher resources that reflect British Columbia’s Aboriginal traditions.
  • In addition to our free services, we offer a variety of publications for purchase (or in downloadable PDF format).

For more information or to request materials, please contact our Resource Librarian.
